Passing The Baton
Running a business is a bit like running a relay. After their leg, the first runner watches and cheers on in eager anticipation, as the next takes the baton and plunges on with fresh new energy, proud of what they’ve achieved and excited for the future.
At the impressive age of 76, over-energetic founder of Sportscruiser Caravans, John Smallwood, has decided it’s time to wind down. In true John fashion, he won’t actually stop working altogether… He’s tried to retire twice before. Instead, he will be taking a more relaxed, background role, helping with sales and product improvement, cheering on the new team. Don’t worry though, he’ll also have some downtime to enjoy the fruits of his labour, holidaying in the product he’s worked so hard to create and spending more quality time with his family.
So, who’s picking up the baton? Joel Netting, husband, dad and lover of the great Australian outdoors. Joel has been the factory manager as well as the main tradesman at Sportscruiser Caravans for the past 6 years and has 13 years experience in the caravan and motorhome industry. He and his wife, Jess, are proud to provide an ever-improving product of the highest quality from an honest, family-based company, building on the foundations laid before them.
